Phase 1: Launch & Ascent

The Space Launch System (SLS) rocket lifts off from Kennedy Space Center, carrying the Orion spacecraft and four astronauts into orbit around Earth. After about two hours of systems checks in orbit, the upper stage fires one last time to send Orion on its way to the Moon.
